Chiropractor Wanted

I saw a Chiropractor this week for the first time in many years – and got some significant relief in a very short time. There’s still a ways to go, but I’m no longer on the verge of frustrated tears about the pain, and about my inability to make it all better. On my own. Without outside help. Sometimes it sucks to be the “Stubborn, Independent, Old Broad” that I’ve become.

Thankfully, my employer provides good insurance options, or I may have put it off indefinitely!

Anyway…

Today I learned that, in most cases, the cervical spine (or neck) of a human, when viewed from the back, is supposed to look like this: ||

Apparently, mine looks like this:  //

To my credit, while we both looked at that x-ray on the screen, I still managed to crack a joke.

It’s leaning quite a bit,” she said.

I couldn’t tell if I was seeing it from the front or back, so it didn’t take long to ask: “Which way is it leaning? Left, or right?”

“Right,” she responded.

I chuckled. “That is SO wrong!!” I said with a smile. “There isn’t a bone in my body that leans RIGHT!!”

She chuckled too. “I like that one.”

Suffice it to say, we will be working together on that “leaning” thing (along with arthritis that was “exposed”) over the weeks and months ahead.

Posture, posture, posture. 🙂
