Are we the first generation of junk collectors, i.e., trading cards, dolls, matchbox cars, beanie babies, etc.? By “collect” I don’t mean getting gifts, but actually seeking and purchasing items for a collection.
Were previous generations too “poor” to collect things they didn’t “need”? Or were they simply not as materialistic as our current generations have become?
